The day before we leave.
Well it's the day before we leave on our trip. We're at bridges with my mom having breakfast. Good times!
Mom just reminded me that her old hair dresser Charlene used to work out of this same building a few doors down. Funny how I remember it better with her here.
I'm getting the catfish hash, mom is having gronola and fruit, and Jenny is having the salmon benedict.
Bleech on the drip coffee, but the food is great here. I guess we are spoiled having an espresso maker at home.

Ten days?!
We leave in ten days!!! There has been so much preparation going on in our household. We created a master pack list a few weeks ago and ever since, we've slowly been putting it together. Though it seems the more prepared we are, the more our to do list grows...
I was driving the Golf, the vehicle we are taking on our roadtrip, to the bookstore and a facial appointment when a semi cut a turn short and hit me, shoving my car to the curb. This of course happens just before a major vacation. Anyhow, the driver never stopped and I proceeded to chase him. Little did I know, a police officer had witnessed the whole ordeal and chased both myself and the truck driver down. Once to the side of the road, the officer ran right up to the truck driver and scolded him for not stopping. To make a long story short, the officer told the trucker to contact his company and to take very good care of me as he had witnessed the accident. The Golf is in the shop now, we should get it back by Thursday, just one week before we leave. The odds and ends of preparation are taking hold however, and I am sure it will pay off when we find ourselves on the open road.
We'll be making one last purchase before our trip... a Nikon D5000 digital SLR camera. One simply cannot go on the trip of a lifetime and not document it. We are so excited about this purchase.
We've started packing. The first aid kit is ready to go, as are the toiletries. On Sunday, the indepth packing begins. We'll focus on what we call the camp kit and the kitchen kit. Packing in advance is certainly proofing a worthwhile venture in terms of organization and preparedness.
This week, Carl and I have been trying to visit our families as we won't be around for a month. It seems that there is not enough time to see everybody, but let it be noted that we sure as hell tried!

Preparations Take Flight!
Wow! More than a month has passed since our last posting! There has been a significant number of events going on that have kept us both busy!
This weekend, we made the pack list. We divided the list into categories to keep the organization flowing. Once we complied the list, we went and bought the voids that existed within it.
One such item happened to be a sleeping bag for warmer weather. Carl bought two because they can zip together to create a larger bag for us to sleep in. One side is fleece padding and the other is cotton, like a sheet.
Now that most of our purchasing is complete, our focus will be on packing, which we will start next week. We've found that packing in advance allows one to ponder each item packed or left off the list which allows for processing.
More later, I am exhausted :)
