We leave in ten days!!! There has been so much preparation going on in our household. We created a master pack list a few weeks ago and ever since, we've slowly been putting it together. Though it seems the more prepared we are, the more our to do list grows...
I was driving the Golf, the vehicle we are taking on our roadtrip, to the bookstore and a facial appointment when a semi cut a turn short and hit me, shoving my car to the curb. This of course happens just before a major vacation. Anyhow, the driver never stopped and I proceeded to chase him. Little did I know, a police officer had witnessed the whole ordeal and chased both myself and the truck driver down. Once to the side of the road, the officer ran right up to the truck driver and scolded him for not stopping. To make a long story short, the officer told the trucker to contact his company and to take very good care of me as he had witnessed the accident. The Golf is in the shop now, we should get it back by Thursday, just one week before we leave. The odds and ends of preparation are taking hold however, and I am sure it will pay off when we find ourselves on the open road.
We'll be making one last purchase before our trip... a Nikon D5000 digital SLR camera. One simply cannot go on the trip of a lifetime and not document it. We are so excited about this purchase.
We've started packing. The first aid kit is ready to go, as are the toiletries. On Sunday, the indepth packing begins. We'll focus on what we call the camp kit and the kitchen kit. Packing in advance is certainly proofing a worthwhile venture in terms of organization and preparedness.
This week, Carl and I have been trying to visit our families as we won't be around for a month. It seems that there is not enough time to see everybody, but let it be noted that we sure as hell tried!
