Along the way, we've seen a few things that have had us turning towards one another and asking, "Did you see that?" For example:
- The most interesting road kill was a snake in New Mexico. The only animal we've hit was a bird. The body print remains on the hood.
- Arizona has the most highway partol actively patroling the highway. We saw one at least every 10 to 20 miles throughout Arizona. For the miles in between, they use photo radar. Do yourself a favor and drive the speed limit in Arizona. Most of the highways are 75 miles per hour...
- The border patrol has just purchased a new fleet of vehicles. We've seen several semi's delivering the merchandise.
- The highest speed limit we've seen for a highway or interstate was in Utah for 80 miles per hour. That's a little freaky with the number of tumble weeds flying through the air.
-Seems logical, but don't pick cactus apples without gloves. That means you should use gloves and not a paperbag or some other apparatus as a substitute or you WILL end up with spines in your flesh. Carl can tell you all about it...
- Wildfires make for the most phenomenonal sunsets and sunrises.
- Don't get caught in a New Mexico windstorm. Luckily, we didn't, but we see remnents of those who did in the form of crosses which line the highway alongside signs warning of the danger.
Stay tuned for more head turning experiences.

Watch out for wild pigs - Peccaries.
ReplyDeleteOne of Jenny's Grandma Nancy's favorite animals at the Sonaran Desert Museum - Gregory Peccary!
Careful walking on the highways at night - Rattle snakes stay there to keep warm.
I wish we would have seen wild pigs :) It would have been fun! We'll have to see the museum next time.
