We've been walking the French Quarter in New Orleans all morning. Time for a break and a nice frozen coffee drink at Community Coffee. We are both having a Turtle Mochassippi. Mmm mmm good!

You can tell that people got there party on last night. Bourbon Street is strung with beads, mostly on balconeys, but some in stranger places (photos will come later).
Did I mention that Jenny has turned into a great photographer? She has.

Impressions about the French Quarter:
lovely old architecture
narrow streets
rich history documented with plaques
lots of visiting tourist
smelly streets in some areas
the quarter is a real living and working neighborhood surrounded by a newer city
friendly respectful locals
hot and humid - drink water and a sports drink too
walk, wear comfortable footwear
booze starts serving at 11am
drivers can be crazy on these narrow streets

I really like it here. We will come back and visit this area again.

  1. Love the pictures! Looking at them almost made me feel like I was there. Did you put all of the powdered sugar on the pastries or did they? I bet they were good!
